Falaj 0: Welcome Aboard

Welcome to Falaj, a ladder of small shell puzzles named after the stone channels that carry water down a valley from one field to the next. You play the newly arrived keeper of a channel office, and each level hides the way to the next one.

The first step is the gentlest. When the console opens it greets you with a message of the day, and the greeting mentions a file. Your task is to read that file with the cat command, which prints a file's contents to the screen. The letter inside holds the password for the next level. Type carefully: Linux file names are case sensitive, and a shell does exactly what you type, no more.

You will not need to guess anything at this level. Read what the shell shows you, and act on it. This is a simulated shell over invented files: it understands a teaching subset of commands, and help lists them. When you have the password for level 1, run login 1 <password> or paste it into the answer box.
