Binary/ASCII Converter

Convert text to 8-bit binary or decimal byte codes and back, UTF-8 aware, in your browser.

RESULT

Fill in the form and run the tool; the result appears here.

Binary/ASCII Converter turns text into its binary (or decimal) byte representation and converts binary or decimal byte codes back to text, in your browser.

How to read the result

The output shows one 8-bit group (or one decimal code from 0 to 255) per byte, separated by spaces. For plain ASCII text that is one group per character, so you can line the result up against the source text. Decoding expects the same space-separated groups and names any group that is not valid.

Defender tips

  • This is a teaching and CTF-style utility rather than a control on its own; use it to understand an encoding chain, not to protect anything.
  • When you find binary or decimal-encoded strings during a review, decode them here before deciding whether they are meaningful (an embedded flag, a magic value) or incidental.

FAQ

Bit or byte grouping, which is shown?

One group per byte: eight bits in binary mode, or a number from 0 to 255 in decimal mode.

Does it handle Unicode?

Yes. Text is encoded as UTF-8, so a character outside ASCII becomes two to four byte groups, the same bytes the hex tool shows.

How is this different from the hex tool?

Same idea, different base: this shows binary (base 2) or decimal ASCII codes, the hex tool shows base 16. Use whichever matches what you are comparing against.
